The circuit route is of religion, culture and great beauty. Our guide take you to Ganden Monastery,, Terdrom Nunnery (4325 m) and medicinal hot springs; Drigung Monastery, the head of the Drigung school of Kargyupa order of Tibetan Buddhism; Reting Monastery (4070 m), one of the important Gelukpa Monasteries; and our trip culminates in Lhasa after exploring Namtso, the Sky Lake.
Itinerary Details Day 1: Day 1: Lhasa - Ganden - Drigung
160km ride north-east via Ganden to Drigung. After the visit try to approach to the sky burial site there. Over-night at guesthouse.
Some 30km to Terdrom Nunnery and the holy caves. It is nice to bathe in the medicinal hot springs if health permits. Some 100km ride through the Changthang plains to Reting Monastery. Reting Monastery is an important Gelukpa monastery in Central Tibet, situated in a sprawling juniper clad hill. Overnight at guesthouse.
Another 100km ride to Damshung and then on to Namtso Lake, the 2nd largest salt-water lake in Tibet. The Nyenchen Thangla mountain ranges tower over the lake. During the summer months Namtso is dotted with nomad herders and their cattle and tents. Overnight at guesthouse.
